How to extend cone crusher liner life before sending an RFQ

Liner life depends on feed condition, chamber profile, CSS, material selection and crusher maintenance. A better RFQ helps suppliers quote replacement mantles, bowl liners and concaves with fewer assumptions.

Start with the real operating problem

Cone crusher liners are not only replacement parts. They are part of the crushing chamber, and their performance depends on feed material, chamber profile, closed side setting, manganese grade and daily operation.

Before asking for replacement mantles, bowl liners or concaves, identify whether the issue is normal wear, uneven wear, short liner life, poor product size, lower capacity, cracking, loose seating or related damage on bushings, lock nuts and feed components.

Check feed size and feed distribution

Cone liners usually wear best when the chamber is fed evenly and the application matches the selected chamber. Oversize feed, too many fines or off-center feeding can reduce capacity and create abnormal wear.

  • Provide the typical feed size range and material type.
  • State whether the feed is wet, sticky, abrasive or mixed.
  • Send photos of worn liners from several angles.
  • If uneven wear is the problem, add photos or video of feed entering the crusher.

Match liner profile with CSS and production target

Closed side setting affects both product size and liner wear. If the chamber profile does not match the feed and CSS, the crusher may lose capacity, produce off-size material or wear the liner unevenly.

For RFQ preparation, include crusher model, current CSS, required output size, current capacity, existing chamber profile if known, and the main target: longer wear life, better shape, higher capacity or lower cost per ton.

Select manganese grade based on impact and abrasion

High manganese steel works by work-hardening under impact. Mn13, Mn18 and Mn22 are commonly considered depending on rock hardness, abrasiveness, impact level and liner life target.

Higher manganese is not automatically better in every application. Buyers should share the rock type, previous material grade, actual service life, wear pattern photos and any cracking or seating damage.

Do not ignore lubrication and bronze bushing signals

Short liner life can also be connected with crusher condition. High oil temperature, unstable oil pressure, contaminated oil or bronze particles in filters may indicate internal wear or bushing damage.

If the RFQ also involves eccentric bushings, socket liners, frame bushings, countershaft bushings or main shaft sleeves, include oil temperature history, worn bronze part photos, debris photos, stoppage symptoms and shaft or bore measurements where available.

  • Crusher brand and model used for compatibility identification
  • Part name: mantle, bowl liner, concave, feed cone, torch ring or lock nut
  • Part number, casting number, drawing or old part photos
  • Material request such as Mn13, Mn18, Mn22 or supplier recommendation
  • Quantity, destination country or port and required delivery time
  • Application details: feed material, feed size, output size, CSS and current service life

Can I request cone liners only by machine model?

Yes, but it is better to include part numbers, photos, chamber type and application details. Machine model alone may not identify the exact liner profile.

Is Mn22 always better than Mn18?

No. Material selection depends on impact, abrasion, rock type, feed condition and whether the liner can work-harden correctly.

Why do my liners wear unevenly?

Common reasons include poor feed distribution, incorrect chamber selection, unsuitable CSS, segregation in the feed or mechanical condition issues.

Should I send worn liner photos?

Yes. Photos help the supplier understand wear pattern, seating condition and whether the issue may involve chamber selection or crusher operation.
