What to check before cone crusher eccentric bushing burnout

Eccentric bushing failure is often linked to lubrication condition, oil temperature, oil pressure, contamination and operating load. A better inspection record also helps buyers request replacement bronze parts more accurately.

Burnout is rarely just a bushing problem

When a cone crusher eccentric bushing burns out, replacing the bronze bushing alone may not solve the root cause. The maintenance team should also review oil temperature, oil pressure, return screen debris, oil cleanliness, crusher load, CSS setting and visible damage on mating surfaces.

Oil pressure: low or fluctuating pressure may relate to pump wear, relief valve issues, oil circuit problems or excessive internal clearance.

Return screen debris: abnormal copper or iron particles should be photographed and kept with the used-part inspection record.

Oil contamination: dust, water, oxidation and fine particles can turn oil into an abrasive medium that accelerates wear on bushings and sleeves.

Can a site replace only the eccentric bushing after burnout?

Copper debris normally means abnormal wear from a bronze component. The site should stop and inspect the old part surface, lubrication condition and mating clearance.
