Cone crusher liner change-out small parts: RFQ checklist

A cone crusher liner order should not stop at mantle and bowl liner. Shutdown planning often depends on smaller items such as torch ring, feed cone, mantle nut, bolts and backing compound.

Why small parts belong in the liner RFQ

Many buyers start with a simple request for "mantle and bowl liner". That is useful, but it may not be enough for a planned liner change-out. The replacement job can also involve parts that position, lock, support, protect or fill the liner assembly.

If these parts are missing, a low-value item can delay a high-cost crusher shutdown. This is especially painful for remote mines, quarries far from a port, or sites that only have a short maintenance window.

Parts to check before shutdown

  • Torch ring or cutting ring, especially when the old ring is cut during mantle removal
  • Feed cone, feed plate or feed distributor wear parts above the crushing chamber
  • Mantle nut, lock nut, locking bolt or related retaining hardware
  • Bowl liner bolts, square-head bolts, wedges or other clamping parts where applicable
  • Backing compound or padding material required behind the liner
  • Seals, dust covers, washers, keys or small mechanical parts damaged during removal

RFQ information buyers should send

  • Crusher model, series and serial plate photo if available
  • Current part numbers, casting marks or previous supplier drawings
  • Cavity type, liner profile and whether the request is for standard, coarse, medium, fine or extra fine crushing
  • Photos of mantle, bowl liner, torch ring position, feed cone, bolt holes and worn contact surfaces
  • Material request such as Mn13Cr2, Mn18Cr2, Mn22Cr2, alloy steel or high chrome iron
  • Feed material, maximum feed size, CSS, wear pattern and current service life
  • Quantity, destination port, packing requirement and required delivery date

Procurement checks before approval

Do not assume that two liners with similar names use the same small parts. Cavity profile, crusher generation, retained hardware, feed arrangement and site modifications can change the package.

For first orders, request a quotation line by line. Separate mantle, bowl liner, torch ring, feed cone, mantle nut, bolts and backing compound so the buyer can approve only what is needed and still see what was excluded.

Safety and installation note

This article is a procurement checklist, not an installation procedure. Liner replacement involves stored energy, suspended loads, cutting, lifting and confined work around heavy components. Follow the crusher manual, lockout procedure and site lifting plan before inspection or removal.

FAQ

Should a torch ring be included with every mantle order?

Not always, but it should be checked. If the site cuts or damages the old torch ring during mantle removal, include a replacement ring in the RFQ.

Is backing compound the same as a fastening part?

No. Backing compound fills gaps and supports the liner backing area. Correct locking hardware and installation practice are still required.

Can XCT Mining quote from used-part photos?

Yes. Send photos, dimensions, machine model and any part numbers. Drawings or samples are better when the part has no clear reference number.
